Some frequently asked questions about for2

If you can't find the answer to your question below, please contact our friendly helpdesk.
Before joining, please also read our Terms of Use.

Membership

Is for2 different from other dating sites?

Yes. We offer a range of features that other sites don't. You can read more about these features on our Why Join page.

Who joins for2?

All types of people - and not just those looking for a soulmate. We're also a great place for anyone looking to expand their social circle by making new friends. Please remember, though, that while we'd love you to become a member, we're not an "adult" site, and we reserve the right to delete any profile, picture or other content that may be offensive to others.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, you can delete your account at any time. If you do so, though, you will lose all the points in your account as well as other privileges, such as forum membership etc. Note that you can also "Hide" your account, which leaves your details on the database, but prevents you from being visible to other members (you won't show up on searches etc.). This is useful if you want to suspend visibility for a short time without losing your points and privileges.

Are my personal details secure?

Yes. We take great care to ensure that we comply with strict privacy rules. For full details, please refer to our privacy policy.

Can I change my password?

Yes, you can change various aspects of your account - just go to the My Account section.

I've forgotten my password. How do I find it?

Easy! Just click on the Forgotten Password link, on our main page, enter the email address you used to register with the site, and we'll send you a new password. You can then log in and change your password to something more memorable.

Can I control which messages I receive from for2 in my personal email?

Yes. In the My Account section, you can switch the notifications you want either on or off. Before you switch them off, though, remember that you could be missing out on a lot - alerts when other members contact you, great promotional messages, event alerts and more.

Profiles

Do you censor profile content?

Not usually. We prefer to trust in members' judgement as to what's sensible and acceptable on a site such as for2. However, we do reserve the right to remove content which is either obviously offensive, or which is the subject of complaint by other members. For full details please refer to our Terms of Use.

Do I have to complete my profile in order to use the site?

No. We do ask for a basic minimum of information, but you're not obliged to complete every aspect of the profiling process, or answer every question. Remember, though, that the more complete your profile, the more you'll get from the site - responses in particular! You also earn Points from completing various aspects of your profile.

Do I have to submit a photo?

No. But those who do get far more responses than those who don't. You also earn Points when you post at least one photo (please note that you lose them again if you delete it).

How many photos can I upload?

As many as 16. That is, up to 8 in each of your (profile/private) albums.

What are public/private albums?

The photos in your private album can only be seen by your Friends. Those you add to your list of Friends have automatic access to your private album. Note that the reverse is also true - if you choose to give another member access to your private album, the member will be auto-added to your Friends list. You can also effectively extend your profile album by giving everyone access to your private album.

Why can't I save photos to my private album?

Your private album will only become "enabled" when you have at least one photo in your profile album. Please make sure your publicly available photos meet our guidelines for suitability.

Why was my profile photo removed?

We accept most photos in your public album, but we do ask you to make sure that the one you choose for your main profile follows a few simple rules:

  • Please make sure it's of you - no cartoons, panoramic views of scenery (however wonderful) etc
  • Make sure it shows it your face clearly
  • Please don't post anything that's x-rated, or obviously offensive
  • Please - no children, including your own
  • No heavily "doctored" pictures

Please note that, while we accept a broader range of content in private albums, we reserve the right to remove anything which could be offensive.

Is there a limit on photo file size?

Please keep your photos below 5MB. Anything larger will be rejected by our servers. Your photos must be in .jpg, .gif or .png format.

When will my photo go online?

Immediately. Unlike many other sites, we trust our members first and ask questions later. That is, we trust you to post pictures that obey our Terms of Use. However, we do review all pictures, and will delete anything that may be considered offensive or inappropriate by the vast majority of our members.

I'm having a problem uploading photos. Can you help?

Yes. In the unlikely event that you have a problem posting a photo, we can upload them for you if you email them to us at admin@tfor2.com (remember to include your username).

Can I hide my profile from view?

Simply go to My Account, and change your profile status with the HIDE button. You can UNHIDE (make yourself visible again) at any time.

Why was my "In My Own Words" section not accepted?

You can say pretty much what you want here - but please avoid any offensive language, and don't include personal details of any kind.

Contacting other members

How can I contact other members?

You can contact other members in a number of ways - email, gifts (virtual and real), saying hi etc. To do this, you need to have for2 Points in your account, and each type of contact "costs" a (different) number of Points. You can purchase points quickly and easily using a credit card or PayPal.

Can I send as many emails as I like?

Yes, as long as you have enough for2 Points.

Do all emails cost points?

No. You "pay" ONLY for the very first message you send to a member. Any reply to your mail will be free to that member, and all subsequent emails between you are completely free. Similarly, if someone initiates contact with you via email, you can reply to them free (as they have "paid" to start the conversation with you).

Can I include personal contact details in an email?

Yes. But NOT until the other member has replied at least once. Then, you're free to exchange any contact details you want.

Can I send real gifts as well as virtual gifts?

Of course - we hope we've made it easy for you to do this. Please note that, if you send a real gift to another member, and it is not accepted, we cannot refund the cost of your gift.

I unintentionally deleted a message from another member. Can you help?

No. Sorry, we cannot retrieve the content of messages once it's deleted.

I'd prefer not to receive messages in my regular email inbox. Can you help?

Many members get round this by setting up a free Web-based mail account with a service such as Hotmail and using this email address with their profile. But note that there is a possible drawback to this approach - some free email services will disable your account if you do not check it regularly. If this happens, any messages other members send you emails, they will be lost as your email address will no longer be contactable by us. If we receive several consecutive bounces from your address, we may hide or remove your profile.

Can I prevent a member from contacting me?

Yes. When you visit a member's profile, you will find a "Block member" button beneath their profile image. This will prevent all contact from the member concerned. You can also report inappropriate behaviour by another member using the "Report a concern" button located on that particular member's profile.

Points

How do I earn Bonus Points?

In several ways - you'll find a full list of how you can earn points under the My Account section.

Can I spend my points on real (not virtual) items?

Yes. But you must have enough points to pay fully for the item in question. We cannot accept points as part-payment.

Can I purchase points as well as earn them?

Yes, you can purchase for2 Points with a credit card or by Paypal.

Do you ever deduct points?

Sometimes, though we prefer to say that we "reclaim" them. This simply means we take back points we've given you for doing something on the site. For example, you "earn" a number of points for posting a profile picture. If, at a later stage, you remove this picture, you will lose the points you earned. Under some circumstances, this may take your Points total negative (your account will be "overdrawn").

My account has a negative number of points. What does this mean?

We give all members an "overdraft" facility of -10 points by default. This is so that they can continue using the site on the (rare) occasions that a transaction process is delayed for some reason. Members cannot take any action that will take an account more than 10 points overdrawn.

I have purchased a UCP (see below) but I still have points in my account. Why?

By purchasing a UCP, you have unlimited use of our communications tools for a defined period. However, you still earn Points (called Bonus Points) for doing various activities (see My Account) on the site, and your current Bonus Points total is shown on your Home Page. These points can come in useful in two ways: (a) if your UCP expires, and (b) if you want to use non-communications aspects of the site, not covered by your UCP.

What is Points Auto-Purchase?

This simply means that, if you purchase Points by credit card, we will, by default, automatically "top-up" your account with the same number of points each time you run out. This is only for your convenience, to save you the hassle of re-purchasing. You can cancel PAP at any time.

If I accidentally cancel my membership without cancelling PAP, will I be billed?

Absolutely not. Cancelling your membership (deleting your account) automatically stops further billing.

Unlimited Communication Packages

What is an Unlimited Communication Package (UCP)?

As its name suggests, this is a package which gives you unlimited contact with any member for a defined period of time. If, for example, you purchase a 1-month UCP, you can use any of our contact mechanisms, such as email or virtual gifts, as often as you like to contact as many members as you like. When the time period is up, these benefits will no longer be available.

Does a UCP offer unlimited use of every aspect of the site?

No. The UCP concept gives unlimited use of only those aspects of the site relating to direct contact with other members. There are one or two other aspects of the site for which you will need points. You may have these, as a result of using the site (if so, they will be shown in your account total). If you don’t have any, and want to get some, you can purchase them easily.

What happens when my UCP expires?

Simple – if you have paid by credit card, and auto-rebill is activated, your package will automatically be renewed. If auto-rebill is switched off, you will still be able to use the site if you have points in your account. If you have no points, you will need to buy more points or another UCP. This is very easy and quick to do.

What are the relative benefits of Points packages and UCPs?

To deliver optimum value for everyone, we want to make sure that every member has the option of a membership package that best suits their site usage patterns. UCPs are ideal for members who want to make extensive use of the site within a short time. Points packages are (because points last forever unless they are used) great value for members who tend to use the site less intensively over a longer period.

Competitions

Are your competitions for real?

Of course! Winners (user)names will be published regularly, and a list of winners is available on request.

Do you publish winners on other websites such as Facebook?

Yes, we will sometimes publish the username (which is essentially anonymous) of winners on our other sites. We also like to publish photographs of winners, too - however, we will always seek the express permission of all winners before using their photograph in any way outside of for2.

Where can I find the competition rules?

You'll find a link to them on the main page of the competition concerned.

Affiliates

Do you run an Affiliate scheme?

Yes. It's easy to join and offers great commissions. Simply go to our Affiliates link.

How much will I be able to earn as a for2 Affiliate?

It depends on your level of referrals. Very attractive commissions are available — please see our Affiliate membership page for details.

Can anyone become an Affiliate?

Anyone can apply. However, we reserve the right to decline any application. Please see our Affiliate membership page for details.

How do I become an Affiliate?

Easy. Just go to our Affiliate membership page and complete the simple form.

Can I join the Affiliate scheme if I am outside the UK?

Yes, but as for2 is for UK-based members we will only reward you for UK subscriptions and purchases (we cannot send goods outside the UK).

Forums

How do your forums work?

Most people are familiar with how a discussion board works - but, if you're not, we suggest you find out the fun way. That is, by joining in. You'll soon get the hang of it.

Are your forums free?

To access the for2 forums, members are asked to pay a nominal "fee" (a small number of Points). However, this is a once-only payment, and enables the member to make as many posts as they like on any thread, for as long as they are a member of for2.

Is anything allowed in your forums?

No, not quite. We're fairly easygoing about the content of posts to our forum, but there are a few house rules.
They'll be familiar to anyone who has used other forums, but we'll list them here anyway. Please make sure you abide by them.

  • You may not post commission, referral or affiliate links anywhere on the forum.
  • Cross-Posting is not allowed. "Cross-posting" means posting new duplicate threads or posts, or the linking to threads or posts already started with the intention of gaining exposure.
  • You may not link, in any manner, to sites or images containing pornography, sexually explicit, vulgar, gross violence, or are considered by moderators to be offensive to the community.
  • Any posts that encourage illegal intent will be removed and the account disabled.
  • New members may have their first posts moderated to curb Spam. If you do not see your posts appear within 24 hours please contact us.
  • Public posts debating these rules and/or moderators' enforcement of them may be removed without warning or comment. We do encourage feedback however, and we hope you will contact us directly with any questions/concerns.
  • Please read the Forum Descriptions carefully and post threads in the appropriate place. If you need a thread or post moved please use the 'report post' button to contact a Moderator.

Poetry

Can I post any kind of poem?

Yes, you can post whatever you like as long as it is your own work, or you have explicit permission to post if from the author.

How long can a poem be?

Anything up to 1000 words.

Can I edit my poems?

Sorry, once you've posted a poem, it can't be edited - though it can be deleted. We suggest you save it to your personal "Drafts" area until you're happy with it.

Do I get points for posting a poem?

Yes - you get for2 points but please remember that you will lose these points if you delete the poem at any stage.

My poem was removed? Why?

Although we allow members to post anything they like, we reserve the right to remove any poem that might offend other members. We may remove any poem that is the subject of complaint, obviously abusive or clearly subject to third-party copyright.

Money matters

How can I pay for points?

We offer a secure credit card and Paypal payment facility.

What will appear on my credit card account?

I have not used all of my for2 points and want to delete my profile. Will I be refunded the cost of remaining points?

No, sorry. Deleting your profile will result in your unused points being lost, and no refunds will be made.
